Organic Connecions 2012 conference

May 29, 2012 - The Fifth Biennial Organic Connections Conference and Trade Show will be held at the Conexus Arts Centre in Regina on November 2nd and 3rd, 2012. In addition to the conference, there will be an evening program held at the University of Regina on Thursday, November 1st that will be open to the public. The Organic Connections "kids program" will move to the Regina Science Centre with two days full of activities planned to engage and inform school age participants.

Within the conference theme of "A Vision For The Future," the program is designed to help point you in the direction of opportunities, as well as provide tools to help you take advantage of them.

"I'm excited about emerging local and export markets and the growing awareness of consumers when it comes to their food," says President Debbie Miller. "Today's families are not only more knowledgeable about the health benefits of organic food but they also want to recover that connection with the farm, they want to know where their food came from, how it was grown and handled, and how it got to their table."

The conference program will not only include health and lifestyle information to help consumers make informed choices, but it will also feature an array of experts to share their knowledge on a wide variety of topics including: how to manage weeds on an organic farm, how/where to market organic food, what is happening with the global food supply and what trends should we be watching for.

Organic Connections is also home to the largest organic trade show on the prairies. Space is limited this year, so prospective exhibitors will want to contact organizers as soon as possible to secure a spot.

The Organic Connections conference and trade show is a celebration of organic food and farmers. The goal is to celebrate the contributions of organic pioneers and celebrate the young producers and consumers who are continuing the tradition, as we face the challenges and opportunities that are waiting on the horizon.
