July 31, 2020  By Top Crop Manager

The most recent crop report produced by the Ontario Ministry of Agriculture, Food and Rural Affairs (OMAFRA) Field Crop News team addresses the benefits of cover crops post-wheat harvest.

Cover crops are an effective weed management strategy following a cereal crop. This is especially true for glyphosate-resistant weeds, like Canada fleabane and waterhemp.

The report includes tips on which crops provide the best weed suppression and how to manage them. For more information on other cover crop uses and how to get started, this webinar and this article are great starting points. The article includes information for Western Canada as well as Ontario.
