The information is provided by the respective canola seed companies. Growers are encouraged to look at the Canola Council of Canada website for the Prairie Canola Variety Trials and Performance Online Database for performance and agronomic information. Talk to local seed suppliers to see how new varieties also performed in local trials.

Brett Young delivers four new varieties
6040 RR is a new RR hybrid with yields of 124 percent relative to Q2 and 46A65 in the Co-op 2 Trials. 6040RR is resistant to blackleg and fusarium. It has medium to tall height and excellent standability and medium maturity relative to the standards.

6020 RR is a new RR hybrid with yield index of 119 percent of Q2 and 46A65 in the Co-op 2 Trials. It has shown very strong oil content in the Co-op trials with content two percent higher than the checks on average. It is MR for blackleg and resistant to fusarium. The overall yield, growth habit and oil content may make it a good fit for growers intending to direct harvest.

6130 RR is a new synthetic hybrid. It yielded 118 percent of Q2 and 46A65 in the Co-op 2 Trials. It is resistant to blackleg and fusarium and slightly earlier than the checks. A synthetic hybrid like 6130 RR will give the grower excellent performance at an excellent price.

5525 CL has a new level of yield performance for Clearfield hybrids. It provides yield, disease resistance, standability and oil all in one package in the Clearfield system. 5525CL yielded 126 percent of Q2 and 46A65 in the Co-op 2 Trials. This is an impressive hybrid for growers looking for the top yield overall.

Dekalb launches two new Genuity hybrids
72-65 RR is an exciting Genuity Roundup Ready hybrid that has out-yielded 71-45 RR by more than two bushels in 11 field scale trials. It has a strong R rating for blackleg and R rating for Fusarium Wilt. 72-65 RR excels in high-yield environments and has extremely high oil content.

Dow AgroSciences aims for two Nexera specialty oil registrations
Dow AgroSciences hopes to launch two new Nexera canola varieties with commercial quantities available for the 2010 growing season. The varieties are currently awaiting registration. The new NX4 RR variety will complement the current portfolio with a great fit in the short- to mid-growing season areas, and a solid agronomic package consistent with currently registered NX4 RR varieties.

The NX4 CL variety will also have a strong agronomic package with expectations of an improved blackleg rating higher than Nex 845.

All Nexera canola varieties produce high quality Omega-9 oil and will be available to growers that sign a Nexera production contract.
