Manitoba Pulse and Soybean Growers share 2023 On-Farm Network results

December 14, 2023  By Top Crop Manager

Manitoba Pulse and Soybean Growers’ (MPSG) released its On-Farm Network (OFN), which is a network of farm-scale research with a focus on pulse and soybean crops and is fully funded and directed by MPSG.

All research in this network is based on three principles: Participatory (conducted on-farm with farmers); Precise (produces data that are unbiased, accurate and robust); and Proactive (delivers results to guide management decisions, aiming to improve the productivity and profitability of the farm operation).

The overall goal is to test new products and practices for pulse and soybean production while empowering farmers to conduct simple, reliable research on their farms.

In 2023, 56 OFN trials were conducted across Manitoba investigating 12 different research questions through various trials. New trials this year evaluated pea seed treatments and dry bean inoculant products. MPSG hopes to continue exploring these trials and more with interested farmers to further build these datasets.

Single-site reports for each trial conducted through the OFN are available in the On-Farm Network Database, now updated with 2023 reports. Sort and filter by crop, year, trial type and region in Manitoba to find results applicable to your farm. Or search for trials using the interactive map.
