March 5, 2019  By Top Crop Manager

On Feb. 26, 2019, Top Crop Manager hosted the 2019 Soil Management and Sustainability Summit in Saskatoon. Experts from across Canada covered such topics as precision farming, cover crops, soil fertility management, intercropping and more.

Dr. Don Flaten presented research completed with Amy Mangin at the University of Manitoba that re-evaluated nitrogen management for high-yielding spring wheat. The research looked into the most effective and efficient combinations of N application rates, timings and sources for spring wheat production at yields up to 130 bushels per acre.

In the video below, Flaten shares why they re-visited nitrogen management recommendations, the main findings of the research, and what it means for farmers and agronomists when it comes to fine-tuning their own management practices.

Stay tuned for more Speaker Spotlights from the 2019 Soil Management and Sustainability Summit.
