Grain corn dry down in October

Oct. 16, 2013 - Normal plant processes and weather conditions are the major influences on grain drydown, although hybrid characteristics can also play a role.

According to Pam de Rocquigny, cereal crops specialist with Manitoba Agriculture, Food and Rural Initiatives (MAFRI), given the later maturation of corn in Manitoba in 2013, it is likely that grain dry down rates will be slower than in normal years.
