Focus herbicide registered for residual weed control

Jan. 11, 2015, Canada – Focus Herbicide has received registration for use in front of spring and winter wheat for broad-spectrum grass and broadleaf weed control.

Focus has shown high levels of activity on foxtail(s), downy brome and Japanese brome which are weeds that have seen increasing presence across the prairies.

"From a pre-seed or pre-emergence application, Focus will provide residual weed control from a surface application with no incorporation required," said David Strilchuk, country manager with FMC Canada, in a press release.

The product is a novel Group 15 mode of action for wheat for enhanced resistance management, according to the release. It has activity on a broad spectrum of grassy and broadleaf weeds, and that low use rates with one case treating between 56 and 66 acres.
