Assessing sclerotinia risk in Ont canola
June 27, 2014 - Sclerotinia can take a significant bite out of Ontario canola yields. Brian Hall, canola specialist with OMAFRA, says a thick crop canopy and several days of wet weather prior to and at flowering increases the risk of the disease.
Sclerotinia can result in a potential yield loss of 25 per cent, notes Hall. As a result, it is critical that fungicide be applied early before sclerotinia becomes established.
