News Weed Management Herbicides
Wheat now on label for Authority 480

May 26, 2020  By Top Crop Manager

The addition of spring and durum wheat to the Authority 480 herbicide label gives growers a new Group 14 herbicide option for pre-emergent weed control. The registration comes just in time for the 2020 growing season.

Authority 480 herbicide, produced by FMC Canada, was already available for use in field peas, chickpeas, flax, soybeans and sunflowers for control of broadleaf weeds such as redroot pigweed, lamb’s quarters, cleavers and wild buckwheat. This new registration allows growers to use Authority 480 herbicide to control kochia in spring and durum wheat, including biotypes resistant to Groups 2, 4 and 9.

Authority 480 herbicide provides control during the critical weed-free period in wheat. It can be applied pre-plant or up to three days after seeding and it can be applied alone or with glyphosate. Authority 480 herbicide is registered at 43 acres per jug for kochia control in spring wheat and durum.
