Using sea lettuce in P.E.I for biofuel
Jul. 30, 2013 - The P.E.I Shellfish Association is investigating the feasibility of turning sea lettuce into biofuel.
According to The Guardian in P.E.I, sea lettuce is choking off the oxygen in the water, causing crustaceans and other shellfish to die. The P.E.I Shellfish Association is therefore looking for a profitable way to dispose of it that could provide a benefit to everyone.
The sea lettuce will be taken to ADI Lands in Oromocto, NB will harvest a small quantity of the lettuce and do tests to see if the biofuel can be used.
