Traits company asks US fed to approve new soybean

Aug. 31, 2011 -Years after introducing a low-saturated fat and zero trans fat soybean, and answering the call for a consumer-friendly product, Monsanto is asking the US government for approval of its "next-generation" low-fat soybean oil, Vistive Gold. But the USDA's APHIS unit has set no timeline for approval, and the Center for Food Safety contends that these transgenic crops do not face rigorous enough testing.  READ MORE
