The Future of Agriculture at the Southwest Agricultural Conference

November 12, 2012, Ridgetown, ON - The Southwest Agricultural Conference announces its 20th Anniversary program: "The Future of Agriculture"! Conference co-chair and Lambton County Soil and Crop representative, Dave Williams knows “there are big changes coming for agriculture in the next 10-15 years. The next generation of farmers must understand herbicide resistant crops, new technologies, as well as good agronomy. This conference has something for everyone!”

Building on 75 years of producer education, formerly known as “Farmers Week”, this conference brings expert speakers on field crop management through to farm profitability. Feature speakers Stephen Lewis, “Feeding the World” and David Chilton, “The World of Money” will challenge attendees to be ready for the future. As Williams says: “This is an exciting time for agriculture! It’s well worth the time and effort to get to the conference and gain knowledge”.

Field crop producers, agribusiness representatives, researchers and students will find that the website, southwestagconference.ca, has a downloadable version of the agenda and on-line registration. Organizers note that by registering now, participants will enjoy lower fees, be eligible to win prizes and get in on pre-registered workshops. Adam Hayes, conference co-chair points out that on-line registrants qualify to win an automotive GPS unit. Early bird discounts and draws end December 7, 2012.

On January 3rd and 4th, 2013, attendees as well as TOP CROP MANAGER editor, Sara Avoledo will be attending the Southwest Agricultural Conference at the University of Guelph, Ridgetown Campus and will take part in "The Future of Agriculture"!
