Should carry-over soybean seed be used?

2019’s shoddy spring planting conditions left a record number of acres unseeded, which means that many growers will have soybean seed that wasn’t used last year. Is it worth using the carry-over seed this year?
Ontario Ministry of Agriculture, Food and Rural Affairs (OMAFRA) has produced an article examining the viability of last year’s soybean seed. A variety of factors can affect carry-over seed quality in general, but the high oil content of soybeans makes them particularly likely to be unusable one year later.
