Preliminary protein data by crop region available for CWRS wheat

Oct. 7, 2014 - Preliminary protein content data for the 2014 Canada Western Red Spring wheat harvest are now available by crop region.

Data on protein will be updated every Tuesday while samples are received for the Canadian Grain Commission's 2014 Harvest Sample Program. Grain producers can register for the Harvest Sample Program until October 31, 2014. The Canadian Grain Commission will accept samples until November 30, 2014.

The Canada Western Red Spring wheat quality data will be released in 3 phases:
- Protein content only by crop region and grade, based on individual samples received. Data will be updated weekly.
- Key quality parameters by crop region and grade, based on regional composites, when sufficient representative samples from each crop region have been received and composites have been made for analysis.
- Comprehensive quality analysis by grade with protein segregation, where applicable, based on final composites. A comparison to 2013 data will be available.

Grain producers participate voluntarily in the Harvest Sample Program. They submit representative samples. We combine samples by crop, class and grade and analyse quality parameters that reflect end-use quality and performance. The data are used by marketers, millers, bakers, brewers and food manufacturers, both domestically and internationally.
