Nufarm’s Fierce herbicide expands to include field peas, chickpeas and lentils
April 2, 2019 By Top Crop Manager
Nufarm expands its Fierce herbicide label to include field peas, chickpeas and lentils (fall application, small red and large green). The announcement adds another option for pre-emergent residual weed control for Western Canadian growers.
Fierce (Group 14 and 15) herbicide provides extended grass and broadleaf weed control as a pre-emergent application with residual activity that lasts up to eight weeks. Fierce manages broadleaf weeds including kochia (Group 2-, 4- and glyphosate-resistant biotypes), wild buckwheat, wild mustard (Group 2-resistant biotypes), pigweed (Group 2- and 5-resistant biotypes), and lamb’s-quarters (Group 2- and triazine-resistant biotypes), as well as Group 1- and 2-resistant grassy weeds.
For pulse crops, Fierce can be applied in the spring as a pre-emergent application in chickpeas and field peas. For farmers looking to get ahead of spring work, they can apply Fierce late in the fall on land that is going to be seeded to lentils, chickpeas or field peas.
Fierce is also registered for spring and fall applications in soybeans, field corn and spring wheat. Refer to the updated Fierce label at nufarm.ca for full application details.
