Sclerotinia stem rot in review

First appearing in rapeseed and then in canola: sclerotinia stem rot is a challenging disease on these crops. An article by Jim Stone of DuPont Canada in the March 1980 issue of Elevator Manager, a forerunner of Top Crop Manager, describes the problems sclerotinia stem rot caused at the time in rapeseed. Of course since then, the double low erucic acid and glucosinolate rapeseed has been branded canola, but the disease impact is the same no matter the name – sclerotinia stem rot can cause up to 50 per cent yield loss. >> Learn More…


DUC/CPS announce forage program

Available to agricultural producers in the three Prairie provinces, the DUC/CPS forage program offsets the cost of Proven Seed forage varieties when producers convert cultivated land to hay or pastureland. In Alberta and Saskatchewan, producers receive a rebate of $100 per 50 lb. bag of forage seed; in Manitoba, producers receive a rebate of $50 for every new forage acre seeded as part of the program. >> Read full article
