An early snow melt in most of Alberta allowed producers to get an early start to seeding in all regions, and particularly in southern Alberta.With almost 27 per cent of the province seeded as at May 5, this represents the most advanced seeding progress since 2006.

Fourteen per cent of the 2015 crop is in the ground in Saskatchewan, according to the provincial Agriculture Crop Report. The five-year (2010-2014) average for this time of year is two per cent seeded.

The Manitoba Crop Report for this week states seeding progress in the province is estimated at 55 per cent complete. Early seeded cereal crops, canola, corn and peas are emerging; however, growth continues to be slow due to cool temperatures.
