Giant ragweed in southwestern Manitoba?

A weed more common to warmer climates in the United States and a few places in southern Ontario and Quebec — giant ragweed — made an appearance in southwestern Manitoba in 2012. A few random metre-high plants showed up in research plots — a very unexpected sight. Manitoba Agriculture, Food and Rural Development specialists encourage crop producers to be vigilant and monitor weed patches closely to reduce the risk of widespread problems.
