Alberta honey bee winterkill drops in 2013-14
Alberta beekeepers reported that 18.5 per cent of the province’s honey bees died during the 2013-2014 winter, with the most likely cause of winterkill to be cold spring and poor quality queens.

Look for FHB-resistant winter wheat this fall
The first-ever Fusarium head blight (FHB) resistant winter wheat variety, Emerson, will be available to farmers for planting fall of 2014. Emerson CWRW is the first resistant variety of any wheat class.
