Quality of western Canadian canola
The Canadian Grain Commission’s harvest sample program for canola received 1430, samples to date, which include 292 from Manitoba, 657 from Saskatchewan and 481 from Alberta and the Peace River Region of British Columbia.

Researchers are well on their way to developing new cultivars that have the genetics to utilize nitrogen (N) more efficiently. For farmers, that means lower input costs, and for the environment, it could lower N loss through leaching or nitrous oxide gaseous emissions.

Ag scholarship available in Saskatchewan
Saskatchewan Agriculture has launched its fourth annual Saskatchewan Agriculture Student Scholarship. One winning scholarship valued at $4,000 and three runner-up scholarships valued at $2,000 each will be awarded to students in Grade 12 and recent graduates entering agriculture-related post-secondary studies in 2014.
