 | USDA cracks code behind zebra chip
Researchers with the United States Department of Agriculture (USDA) have identified the pest and bacteria that are causing problems for potato growers. The next step is to determine the best way to prevent the two culprits, the potato psyllid, Bactericera cockerelli, from feeding on and infecting potato crops with the Zebra chip bacterium, Liberibacter solanacearum.

 | Grain farmers elect executive committee
The new board of directors at Grain Farmers of Ontario met for the first time this week and the 2012 Executive Committee has been chosen. The board elected Henry Van Ankum as the new Chair of the organization to replace Don Kenny who, as the first Chair of Grain Farmers of Ontario, has completed two years of dedicated service and is congratulated by the board and staff for his many accomplishments in the position.
