Tavium is a pre-mix of dicamba (Group 4) and s-metolachlor (Group 15), the active ingredient in Dual II Magnum herbicide. It can be applied pre‑plant or pre‑emergence in Roundup Ready 2 Xtend soybeans as part of a two-pass program to control glyphosate-resistant Canada fleabane, giant ragweed, and common ragweed, as well as other target weeds such as lamb’s‑quarters, barnyard grass, and foxtail.

“Herbicide‑resistant weeds and, in particular, glyphosate-resistant weeds, continue to pose a challenge for soybean growers,” says Joe Vink, product lead for corn and bean herbicides. “Tavium is a new herbicide specifically designed to help manage these resistant weeds in Roundup Ready 2 Xtend soybeans. Compared to stand-alone dicamba products, the dual modes of action in Tavium broaden the activity spectrum resulting in increased efficacy and sustainability in the fight against resistant weeds.”

In addition to burndown of glyphosate-resistant Canada fleabane and common and giant ragweed, Tavium provides systemic and residual control of Group 2- and triazine-resistant weeds. Tavium is the only dicamba product available in a pre-mix formulation that also offers residual grass control to help soybean fields stay weed-free to the V3 growth stage.

“Managing weeds during the critical weed-free period, up to the third trifoliate leaf stage, is critical to maximizing the yield potential of a soybean crop,” Vink says.

Tavium is available for the 2019 season and will be sold in a 2 x 8.5 L case that will treat 10 acres, or a 450 L tote that will treat 265 acres.
