Government seeks farmer input on GF2
The government of Canada has launched a website seeking farmer input on the Growing Forward 2 (GF2) program, the current federal-provincial-territorial (FPT) agricultural policy framework. GF2 is a $3 billion dollar investment - over five-years (2013-2018) - by FPT governments to support innovation, competitiveness and market development.

Agriculture and Agri-Food Canada says the website is designed to seek feedback from stakeholders that will help shape the development of the next agricultural policy framework. The first phase of online consultation will provide stakeholders the chance to share reviews about GF2.
“I will continue to consult with stakeholders from across the country as we work in partnership with provincial and territorial governments to develop the next policy framework,” says Lawrence MacAulay, Minister of Agriculture and Agri-Food Canada. “These open and transparent consultations with Canadians will help shape the direction of future policy and programs to meet this objective.”
The website allows stakeholders to offer input on what they would like to see included in the next agricultural policy framework. Additional consultation activities will be ongoing in the coming months to gather further feedback.
According to the Minister’s office, the GF2 FPT Business Risk Management suite of programs are demand-driven, and to date, have provided over $4 billion in support to help producers manage severe market volatility and disasters.
