New appointments to Farm Credit Canada

Nov. 5, 2012, Ottawa, ON - Agriculture Minister Gerry Ritz has announced the appointment of Ms. Doris Priddle and the reappointments of Mr. Donald Bettle and Mr. Brad Hanmer to the Board of Directors of Farm Credit Canada (FCC).

"FCC's Board is made up of forward-thinkers with a shared passion for agriculture," said Minister Ritz. "With the reappointment of Mr. Bettle and Mr. Hanmer and the appointment of Ms. Priddle, I'm certain that FCC's strong service to its customers, communities, and the agriculture industry will continue."

Under the Board of Directors' leadership, FCC has consistently been a top provider of agriculture financing in Canada. FCC was recently ranked fifth on the Top 50 Best Employers in Canada list, a list FCC has been placed on for the tenth consecutive year. FCC also gives back to the community-including collecting over 1.4 million pounds of food and $760,000 for local food banks this year as part of FCC's Drive Away Hunger campaign.

As Canada's leading agricultural lender, FCC is advancing the business of agriculture. With a healthy portfolio of more than $24 billion and 19 consecutive years of portfolio growth, FCC is strong and stable-committed to serving the industry through all business cycles. FCC provides financing, insurance, software, learning programs, and other business services to producers, agribusinesses, and agri-food operations.

Headquartered in Regina, FCC is a Crown corporation that reports to Parliament through the Minister of Agriculture and Agri-Food.

Ms. Priddle's appointment is for a term of three years and is effective November 26, 2012. The reappointments of Mr. Bettle and Mr. Hanmer are effective February 10, 2013, and are for terms of three years each. Biographical notes for the appointees are attached.
