Is a nitrogen top-up needed for corn in wet years?

This week’s crop report from the Ontario Ministry of Agriculture, Food and Rural Affairs (OMAFRA) Field Crop Team addressed grain corn nitrogen levels in this year’s crop. The weather extremes – dry early in the season, then with excessive rains in many regions in the province in June and July – led to concerns of lost nitrogen and whether what was left would be sufficient for the remainder of the season.
The report discusses findings from a multi-year study conducted in Elora by Bill Deen, a now-retired University of Guelph professor, and a team of graduate students, and presents actionable tips for growers. |READ MORE
