Higher river flows in Manitoba predicted
May 2, 2013, Winnipeg, MB - A flood watch has been upgraded to a flood warning along a section of the Assiniboine River in southern Manitoba.
The province says water is spilling over the banks between Virden and Brandon.
But a warning that had been issued for another section between Millwood and Virden has been downgraded.
The province says flooding in these areas is expected to primarily affect agricultural land.
The Red River is continuing to rise, but levels in most tributaries are stable or declining.
Forecasters predict warmer temperatures over the next two days are expected to increase melting and runoff, and result in higher river flows.
