GOP proposes $40 billion in cuts to US farm programs

Oct. 6, 2011 -Republicans from both the US House and Senate are proposing a total of $40 billion in cuts to US agriculture, including $11.3 billion in conservation programs and $13.9 billion in federal nutrition programs. The Republican senators who sponsored the bill are saying US farmers understand the need to play a part in reducing the nation's $14.7 trillion debt.       READ MORE
