Four positions available on SaskCanola board, nominations open

July 6, 2020  By Top Crop Manager

Nominations open today to fill four positions on SaskCanola’s eight-member Board of Directors, with the successful candidates beginning their four-year term in January 2021.

For Saskatchewan farmers who grow canola, this is an opportunity to guide investments into research and extension, influence policy and inform consumers.

Each year, SaskCanola aims to spend 40 per cent of its budget on research to provide the tools that farmers need to grow canola more profitably. A great deal of effort is put into finding projects that will truly be of benefit to farmers. In the 2018-19 crop year alone, SaskCanola committed $3.9 million to fund 22 canola-related research projects and programs.

On its own and through the Canadian Canola Growers Association and the Canola Council of Canada, SaskCanola helps to formulate policy on Business Risk Management programs, trade and regulation. It serves as an important channel through which farmers can have a say on a wide range of issues that impact them, such as controlling clubroot, influencing changes to the Canadian Grain Commission or helping to ensure rail and grain companies provide the highest level of service.

If you or someone you know would like to have a voice in the agriculture industry and help maintain a strong farmer presence at the decision tables of the agriculture industry and regulators, now is your time to get involved.

The nomination package is available for download here or by calling the SaskCanola office at (306) 975-0262 to request one. All applications must be received no later than 4:00pm on September 18, 2020.
