Flea beetle-resistant canola in the works

May 21, 2013, Saskatoon, SK - Scientists at Agriculture and Agri-Food Canada's Saskatoon Research Centre say they have developed the first crucifer flea beetle-resistant strand of canola.
Commonly known as hairy canola, the genetically modified plant has hair-like fibers that naturally ward off flea beetles that try to feed on it.
