Flash drought brings more yield worries
Aug. 17, 2011 -As the harvest nears across the US Midwest, concerns regarding the effects of a prolonged dry spell through July are furthering worries that yields, particularly in corn, will be seriously affected. According to the National Drought Monitor in the US, more than 70 percent of Indiana and Missouri have been abnormally dry or in moderate drought, with 61 percent of Illinois and almost 45 percent of Iowa exhibiting the same conditions.
