Fertilizer plant expansion delayed

June 17, 2013 - The expansion that was planned for a fertilizer plant in Saskatchewan has been delayed due to construction costs.

Norwegian-based Yara International says it is postponing the expansion in Belle Plaine, even though it says the site west of Regina is still an optimal location for a future North American nitrogen expansion.

Yara says it will spend more time evaluating construction costs.

Yara said a year ago that it would spend $1.3 billion to double capacity at the plant by 2016.
