FCC contributes to community projects

Sept. 17, 2013, Regina, SK – Farm Credit Canada (FCC) is providing $1 million through the FCC AgriSpirit Fund to 93 community groups across Canada to support capital projects that will help improve quality of life for rural residents. Over the past 10 years, AgriSpirit has helped to fund 787 rural community projects.

The FCC AgriSpirit Fund awards rural community groups between $5,000 and $25,000 for community improvement projects, such as recreation and community centres, libraries, and emergency services training facilities. All projects are based in communities with populations less than 150,000.

Selected groups must complete their projects by December 31, 2015.

Nationally, 866 applications were received for FCC AgriSpirit funding this year. Over the past 10 years, more than $7.5 million in funding has been given to AgriSpirit projects in rural communities across Canada.

Next year's application period opens in spring 2014. Registered charities and non-profit organizations interested in funding are encouraged to visit www.agrispirit.ca for eligibility requirements and to apply online.
