European Commission grants grain import approval for new Syngenta corn trait

July 30, 2019  By Top Crop Manager

Syngenta has received import approval for the Agrisure Duracade trait (event 5307) from the European Commission.

The trait features a unique mode of action that controls corn rootworm (CRW) differently than other traits on the market, according to a company media release, which noted Agrisure Duracade demonstrated a very high level of efficacy in controlling CRW in research trials.

The approval covers corn grain and its derived products for food and feed use within the countries of the European Union (EU).

“Effective control of CRW helps hybrids develop a stronger, more robust root system that supplies plants with optimal water and nutrient uptake. Stronger roots lead to healthier plants, helping to realize the crop’s genetic yield potential and increase profit potential,” said Dan Wright, head of seeds for Syngenta Canada, in the media release.

Agrisure Duracade has been approved for cultivation in Canada and will be available as stacked trait hybrids (Agrisure Duracade 5222 E-Z Refuge and Agrisure Duracade 5122 E‑Z Refuge) and all of the individual components of these stacks are now approved.

For more information about the Agrisure Duracade trait or available trait stacks, please contact your local Syngenta representative.
