Entry deadline near for young speakers program

Across the country, youth are hard at work on their Canadian Young Speakers for Agriculture (CYSA) presentations....but there's still time for others to enter this prestigious agricultural public-speaking event.

The entry deadline is Sunday, September 30.

This year's competition takes place Saturday, November 3, 2012 at the Royal Agricultural Winter Fair in Toronto, Ontario.

CYSA President John J. MacDonald, says if you're between 11 and 24 years of age and are passionate about agriculture, or know someone who is, we want to hear from you.

"We have an excellent group of speakers who have already registered for the competition, but the stronger and deeper the field, the better the competition will be," says MacDonald.

Canadian Young Speakers for Agriculture contestants prepare and deliver a five- to seven-minute speech, in English or French, on one of five agriculture-related topics. Cash prizes are awarded to the six finalists in both the Junior Competition (ages 11-15) and Senior Competition (ages 16-24). All Canadians of these ages are eligible to enter.
