Corn planting progressing in the US

Despite the late onset of spring, farmers in the US Midwest and Great Plains are still making headway in their spring-planting progress. Reports from the USDA now indicate 40 percent of corn has been planted, a drop of 19 percent from the five-year average, and well below 2010's pace of 80 percent.
