August 26, 2016 - Producers may be alarmed to see flea beetles out in the field again but they are likely not doing economical damage at this point. Entomologists believe there would have to be upwards of 100 beetles per plant for there to be economical damage. In the rare event that there are, you need to remember pre-harvest intervals for these late season pests. Delaying swathing to 50-70 per cent seed colour change on the main stem can add substantial yield. The photo shows the bottom third of the main stem, and you'll notice all the seeds are nice and black!
