Eastern Ontario family farm safety day

Farming is the country’s third-most dangerous occupation, and injuries – or worse, death – can be devastating not only for the people involved, but to the ongoing prosperity of Canada’s farms. Injury and death resulting from farm accidents can have a lasting impact on the farm, farm family and also those interested in pursuing a career in agriculture. 

Family Farm Safety Day will aim to educate the whole family on the farm safety policies, practices and procedures that will keep the farm, farm family and its people safe. Involving the whole farm family will help transfer knowledge back to the farm, and affect a change in farm safety. Those who are most likely affected by your farm safety practices are right there with you. 

Adults will learn how to recognize confined space hazards in grain bins, silos and trucks to ensure safety during the Confined Space Safety Training Session or learn how to select proper fall protection equipment, when to use it, how to use it, how to inspect and maintain it during the Fall Protection/Working at Heights Training session. 

Children will attend interactive safety activities including Tractor Safety, First on the Scene, Lawn Equipment Safety, Flowing Grain Entrapment, Chemical Safety and more.

“Safe farms are successful farms,” says Marcel Hacault, Executive Director of CASA. “Events like the Eastern Ontario Family Farm Safety Day help families understand the importance of safety on the farm.” 

Pre-registration is required for Confined Space and Fall Protection by July 13. Please call 613-649-2440 to reserve your spot. Admission is free. Children’s activities do not require pre-registration.
