Applications open for agriculture scholarship in southwestern Ontario

Applications are now open for the Brian Fox Memorial Agriculture Scholarship, which awards $2,500 to an southwestern Ontario student studying or going to study agriculture in college or university.

The Brian Fox Agricultural Scholarship is open to any graduate or current student attending a high school in Lambton or Chatham-Kent counties. The criteria for student eligibility are acceptable grades, good character, involvement in student activities, and enthusiastic volunteerism. In particular, the fund looks to reward a student who demonstrated active involvement in their agricultural community through fairs, 4-H, Junior Farmers, or related activities.

The application can be downloaded online and the deadline to apply is Nov. 30, 2019.

The fund was established by the Ontario Sugarbeet Growers Association (OSGA) in honour of the late Brian Fox, who was a respected Chatham-Kent farmer, leader in his community and founding chairman of the OSGA. The scholarship is funded by donations from various agricultural businesses in Ontario, the Michigan Sugar Company, the OSGA, and the Fox Family.
