Alberta crop insurance company extends recommended seeding dates
May 25, 2020 By Top Crop Manager
Alberta’s Agriculture Financial Services Corporation (AFSC) is extending the recommended seeding dates for several crops. As a result of the cool, wet spring and unharvested acres remaining from 2019, seeding has been delayed for many farmers.
As part of AFSC’s annual crop insurance, certain crops have recommended seeding dates or seeding deadlines, which must be met for the crop to qualify for quality/grade loss coverage. Seeding deadlines and the Land Report filing deadline of June 20 remain unchanged.
The seeding date extension applies only to 2020; for a list of the crops included in the extension and the new dates, visit the AFSC website.
