May 7, 2014 - Alberta Agriculture and Rural Development (ARD) will be starting up their seasonal crop reporting program this Friday, May 9.

ARD has delivered the Alberta Crop Reporting Program since 1940, capturing timely information relating to crop production in Alberta during the crop season.

ARD receives information for their crop reports through the use of surveys which collect data on moisture and crop conditions, progress of seeding and harvesting, insect and disease situation, yield potential and crop quality, etc. Data collected through the surveys, along with information from other sources will be used to compile the bi-weekly 2014 crop report, which presents provincial and regional summaries.

This year, the crop reporting series will consist of 13 bi-weekly reports, with seven prepared by AFSC and six by ARD.
