Ridgetown, Ontario -University of Guelph's Ridgetown Campus is delivering information sessions across Ontario in the upcoming weeks to answer important questions about solar energy systems, including how you can get the most out of your system and how you get connected.
Those attending will have a chance to hear advice from mechanical engineer Thomas Boehni of Switzerland. Mr. Boehni has 18 years experience in roof mounted solar systems and has a wealth of knowledge to share. Mr. Boehni is passionate about green energy. His solar system business in Switzerland and southern Germany is thriving. Last year they installed just under one megawatt (MW) of roof mounted modules, mostly 10 kW to 100 kW in size. Little things like where your modules are pointed and if you keep them clean can make a difference, according to Mr. Boehni.
The sessions will provide information about proper construction, efficient long-term operation, and awareness of processes, regulations and timing. Those attending will also hear from OMAFRA engineers and from a representative of Hydro One. There will be a discussion of FIT and microFIT programs, updates on rural solar systems and information about connecting to the grid.
