Saskatoon, SK - InVigor hybrid canola from Bayer CropScience has been changing the landscape for Canadian canola growers over the past ten years. To celebrate this decade of innovation, Bayer CropScience established the InVigor Anniversary Scholarship program at the University of Saskatchewan.
Ten students currently enrolled in their second or third year at the College of Agriculture and Bioresources successfully competed for the 2007 scholarships, worth $1,000 each. Applications for the scholarships required students to write a short essay on how canola will contribute to the success of Canadian agriculture over the next 10 years.
2007 was both the 10th anniversary of InVigor and the College's 100th anniversary. The scholarship program will continue for the next two years. "We consider the InVigor Anniversary Scholarships a great investment,"
says Lionel Lamont, Marketing Manager for InVigor canola. "These students will be the next generation of leaders and contributors to Canada's canola industry."
"The ongoing support of our students, programs and research from Bayer CropScience, a world leader in innovative crop science, helps the university continue to be on the leading edge of both education and research," says Graham Scoles, Acting Dean of the College of Agriculture and Bioresources.
