Nov. 23, 2011 -Amidst news that Deere Co. has completed a record-breaking year with a fourth-quarter earnings of $670 million is some intersting insight into the company's plans. For 2011, net sales in the US and Canada rose 14 percent for the fourth quarter and 17 percent overall for the year. Electric tractors will provide many benefits
Nov. 23, 2011 -According to a recent article in Resource magazine, work on designing electric tractors is underway and unveiling significant operating efficiencies. Among the findings by Marlin Onnen of the John Deere Product Engineering Centre, in taking over the functions of traditional mechanical and hydraulic linkages, electrified platforms provide for more control, as well as fuel savings of up to 13 percent.      READ MORE

Machinery market to reach $122 billion by 2016
Nov. 15, 2011 -Growth in agriculture is said to be taking off on a global basis, and the machinery and ag implements sector is set to grow right along with it. According to a report titled "Agricultural Implements and Machinery: a Global Strategic Business Report," growth in farm machinery in the next five years is estimated to be $122 billion dollars, with most of it coming in China and India.                READ MORE


Aerial surveillance seeks soybean drought tolerance
Nov. 2, 2011 -A University of Arkansas researcher is using an innovative helicopter-like machine to monitor 1200 research plots for traits that could lead to the development of drought-tolerant soybeans. The Oktokopter uses a digital infrared camera to measure temperatures as an indication of water availability and is similar in design to a drone being tested by A&L Laboratory in London, Ontario.        READ MORE
