Federal investment improves pulse industry
April 8, 2010, Lloydminster, Sask. – Minister of Agriculture and Agri-Food Gerry Ritz announced today that the Government of Canada will invest up to $8.3 million in funding to support the Canadian pulse industry.

Canola growers lose independent variety testing
April 7, 2010 – The recent refusals of several Canadian canola seed developers to enter their varieties in the Prairie Canola Variety Trials (PCVT) this year is extremely disappointing to the Alberta Canola Producers Commission (ACPC), The Saskatchewan Canola Development Commission (SaskCanola) and the Manitoba Canola Growers Association (MCGA).

Biofuels not to blame for 2008 food crisis

Apr. 1, 2010 -Contrary to popular media reports two years ago, the so-called food crisis of 2007/08 was not caused by increased production of biofuels, according to a report commissioned by the UK government.  Instead, higher food prices and shortages occurred because of the combined effect of drought and higher oil prices.         READ MORE
