National beef slaughter cuts reflect product surplus
National Beef Packing Co. has decided to scale back slaughter this week from from six days per week to five at three of it's plants in the US. Analysts believe that this is reflective of excess beef supplies in the market that are forcing packers to sell at discounted prices.
